I wanted to thank you for our new little canary he is
doing very well and gets along beautifully with Frances. I play the
bird recording from early morning to early evening and they just dance
all around the cage. Billy decided to name the male Richard Nixon ,
that's right Richard Nixon strange as it seems. I have been taking all
the food out of the cage in the evening and have had no problems with
the mice.
Also I wanted to say thank you so much for being there
when Frances took what I thought was a stroke and you reassured me it
was. I'll never forget the day I called you because for sure I thought
I was going to lose her. I explained all that was going on and you gave
great advice and you also told me to follow my instincts . Food and
water was essential and so I started with the water and was feeding
her continuously through the day and night. She never refused to take
the water from my finger and as the days went by I started to give her
seed by hand and again she did not refuse to eat. It was just the poor
old girl could not stand to eat by herself.
Physical therapy seemed the natural thing to follow
so I put fleece blankets in the cage, socks and face cloths. The blankets
held her up fairly well and I used the socks and face cloths as fillers
to prop her up against her tiny stand and mirror combo. As the days
went on I pushed her to stand on her water dish of course with all the
props and eventually she was doing more and more. She was going to make
it and I knew it. I had a little fighter. To my surprise several weeks
later she flew off the bottom perch and up to the top and since then
she has been doing great.
Without your encouragement I don't know if I would of
even have thought to do all of those things to keep her alive. I must
have driven you crazy with the telephone calls and I bet you were ever
so happy to hear that all was well. Thanks to you Frances now has a
room- mate that we adopted last week and they both seem very happy.
Thanks again,
Dorene
